So you are being asked to provide a personal email address instead of your work, school, or other organization-provided email address.
You may be wondering why it matters if the email address works today. After all, you have access to it and receive email there now.
👤 Your BestWork account belongs to you—not your employer
Your BestWork account and results are associated with you as an individual, not with the company or organization that asked you to complete the questionnaire.
Your BestWork information may remain useful throughout your career, including when working with other organizations in the future. Because of this, the email address associated with your account should be one that you personally own and control.
🔐 Work and organization email addresses can create privacy and security concerns
An email address supplied by an employer, school, or other organization remains under the control of that organization.
If you leave the organization, your access to that email address may be removed. In some cases, the email address may later be reassigned to another person.
That could create both a privacy and a security issue if an address that was once associated with your personal BestWork account is later controlled by someone else.
📧 Your email address is also important for future account access
BestWork may use your email address to provide account information, recovery instructions, reports, or other communications related to your account.
Using a personal email address helps make sure that you can continue to receive those communications even if you:
- Change employers
- Graduate or leave a school
- Change positions within an organization
- Lose access to an organization-provided mailbox
✅ What email address should I use?
Please use an email account that is:
- Personal to you
- Controlled by you
- Not shared with another person
- Not owned or managed by an employer, school, or other organization
- An address you expect to continue having access to in the future
For most participants, a personal email account such as Gmail is an excellent choice.
🛡️ Why is this a requirement?
This policy is designed to protect your privacy, account security, and continued access to your BestWork information.
Because those protections depend on the email account remaining under your personal control, this requirement cannot be adjusted or bypassed for an organization-provided email address.
If you are currently using a work, school, or other organization-controlled email address, please provide a personal email address instead.
